Upset of the Week - #1

Raiders overcome 13 game losing streak to the Chargers

The Raiders were able to overcome the Chargers today without powerhouse runningback Darren Mcfadden, rising above a 13 game losing streak to the Bolts that goes back to 2003. The game was a high scoring one with both teams failing to adequately defend the other from the end zone. The Bolts offence was led by Rivers with a stunning +400 yrd game, assisted by the brilliant route running of Floyd who picked up just over 200 reveiving yards and a touchdown. The chargers looked like all money for winning, when they had driven down the field to be only 30 yrds out and 1pt behind, but beyond reason they went for passing play after another, resulting in a forced fumble from Branch on the quarterback ending in a Raiders Touchdown to rub in the dirt of a 0-2 interdivision record for the Chargers.

Tips - Week 5

Chiefs Celebrating 3-0 start
Italic writing - my insights into the upcoming games (8/13)

NFC Playbook: Friday 6 p.m. ET

Packers at Redskins
Sharpe: Packers x
Theismann: Packers x
Baldinger: Redskins ✔
Benny Walkling: Packers x
even without a strong running game, the shear excellence of Aaron Rodgers coupled with Clay Matthews should be enough to get the Packers across the line - just (im predicting OT)

Rams at Lions
Sharpe: Rams x
Theismann: Rams x
Baldinger: Lions ✔
Benny Walkling: Lions ✔
Lions have been in it every week, and had their best game just losing to the Packers last week. The lions have to come up with a win soon, and despite Bradford's good start to a newly developed franchise, they are yet to prove anyone on the road.

Bears at Panthers
Sharpe: Panthers x
Theismann: Bears ✔
Baldinger: Bears ✔
Benny Walkling: Panthers x
Bears are without starting quarterback Jay Cutler, with such a poor outing against the Giants last week, it is hard to see the Bears winning. Panthers are desperate for a win, and at home they should be able to squeeze one past the Bears, of course, the Bears could come up on top if their defence plays similar to the first two weeks.

Saints at Cardinals
Sharpe: Saints x
Theismann: Saints x
Baldinger: Saints x
Benny Walkling: Saints x
Not as predictable as first appears. The Saints are without explosive Bush and powerhouse Pierre Thomas. That being said, I believe Ivory can step it up this week against a questionable defence, coupled with Brees and the great defensive mind of Greg Williams, the Saints should come on top.

Eagles at 49ers
Sharpe: Eagles ✔
Theismann: Eagles ✔
Baldinger: 49ers x
Benny Walkling: Eagles ✔
Who ever plays under centre, Vick or Kolb should feast on the 49ers based on their poor performance early in the year. That being said, the 49ers at Candlestick stadium owe their fans some good football, especially after being picked as favorites in the division before the season. Should come down to the defence of the Eagles and the ability of the 49ers to establish their running game.

Titans at Cowboys
Sharpe: Cowboys x
Theismann: Cowboys x
Baldinger: Cowboys x
Benny Walkling: Cowboys x
Cowboys at their new stadium should provide good entertainment for their fans, especially through the passing game to Miles Austin and Dez Bryant, oppossing a questionable secondary. Titans only chance is through a one man performance of Chris Johnson and the O-line getting in sync again and the continuing maturity of Vince Young.

AFC Playbook: Thursday at 6 p.m. ET

Buccaneers at Bengals
Sharpe: Bengals x
Theismann: Bengals x
Baldinger: Bengals x
Benny Walkling: Bengals x
Bengals will look to capitalize on a somewhat easy matchup, the Batman and Robin Show will play somewhat of a decoy for the fans, but the real game will be won through the ground game with Cedric Benson. Buccaneers defence will not be up to the 3dimensional offence of this hot team, coupled with the great secondary.

Giants at Texans
Sharpe: Texans x
Theismann: Texans x
Baldinger: Texans x
Benny Walkling: Giants ✔
Has the potential to be the game of the week. While Foster and Shaub will look to capitalize the offence, if the Giants can stop the strong rushing game that has been established by the Texans in early weeks, the Giants may be able to catch a great upset, despite returning Linebacker Cushing and Wideout superstar Andre Johnson recovering from his ankle troubles,

Falcons at Browns
Sharpe: Browns x
Theismann: Falcons ✔
Baldinger: Falcons ✔
Benny Walkling: Falcons ✔
Browns have been sound at their home ground thus far, particularly establishing points through their newfound rungame in Peyton Hillis, However the Falcons great success on the ground and the maturing Matt Ryan should be able to come on top.

Broncos at Ravens
Sharpe: Ravens ✔
Theismann: Ravens ✔
Baldinger: Ravens ✔
Benny Walkling: Ravens ✔
Ravens stingy defence will be too much for the in form Kyle Orton and his upcoming Wideouts. With Knowshon Moreno listed as questionable for the game, the Ravens will be able to focus more on the passing game of the Broncos offence. Look for Rice to have a big game

Chargers at Raiders
Sharpe: Raiders ✔
Theismann: Chargers x
Baldinger: Chargers x
Benny Walkling: Chargers x
Chargers are finally hitting their form again after an early couple of losses. The great form of tight end Antonio Gates, and in form quarterback Phillip Rivers should tear apart this questionable secondary, taking advantage of their diverse run game. The Raiders Only chance of winning this game was taken out of the equation when Mcfadden was ruled out of the game with an injury.

Vikings at Jets
Sharpe: Jets ✔
Theismann: Jets ✔
Baldinger: Jets ✔
Benny Walkling: Jets ✔
I hate to say it but the Vikings are looking straight down the barrel at a 1-3 start. Darnelle Revis will be back at his top form and should take care of Randy Moss after being outplayed in the game against the Pats. Rex Ryan's complex blitz schemes should be enough to penetrate the struggling offensive line of the Vikings, and take out Brett Favre's deep pass game. The game will then be put in the hands of both Adrian Peterson, who has carried this vikings team thus far, and on the other side of the ball, Improving Sanchez, and the striking force of LT and Shonne Greene.

Jaguars at Bills
Sharpe: Jaguars ✔
Theismann: Jaguars ✔
Baldinger: Jaguars ✔
Benny Walkling: Jaguars ✔
Jaguars had a spectacular win against the Colts last week and they'll look to continue with good form and momentum as they make their way to their bye week. Look for a strong game from Jones Drew- Maurice

Chiefs at Colts
Sharpe: Colts ✔
Theismann: Chiefs x
Baldinger: Colts ✔
Benny Walkling: Colts ✔
I really like the Chiefs early in the Season, however, after struggling early in the season with a 2-2 performance, the Colts will look to get back on track with their returned injured players, and should look to beat this Chiefs team through the air. Chiefs are still a chance if they continue to establish a strong rushing game with Jamaal Charles and Thomas Jones, and if they can have a strong redzone defence and good Special teams plays. Should be up there with the game's of the week

Brett Favre Sex Allegations

Brett Favre #4 at the head of Sexual Allegations whilst at the Jets

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — The NFL said Friday it would review allegations involving the Vikings' Brett Favre, who the website Deadspin said sent racy messages and photos to a former game hostess while he was the Jets' quarterback in 2008.
The league action comes one day after the site posted a video that included below-the-waist photos, said to be of Favre.
The Vikings will travel to New York to play the Jets on Monday night.
"We are reviewing the matter," league spokesman Greg Aiello said when asked about reports that a person alleged to be Favre sent voicemails and lewd pictures to Jenn Sterger.
Asked to respond to the Deadspin report on Thursday, Favre said: "I'm not getting into that. I've got my hands full with the Jets and am trying to get some timing down with our guys, so that's all I'm going to discuss."
Vikings coach Brad Childress had no comment after Friday's practice. He said he was not aware of either the NFL's investigation or the website's allegations. Bus Cook, the agent for the three-time league MVP, didn't immediately return messages.
Later Friday, Deadspin reported that Favre also pursued two female massage therapists who worked part-time for the team, according to one of the women. Deadspin did not identify the women, but a Jets spokesman said the team has contact information for the two women and was giving that information to the league. The Jets spokesman requested anonymity because the NFL investigation is ongoing.
The women were two of 17 massage therapists the Jets used during what they called two intensive recovery days in training camp in 2008.
According to Deadspin, one woman exchanged phone numbers with Favre, and the other woman told the website that the quarterback sent "nasty" text messages and invited both women to his hotel room.
On Thursday, Deadspin reported that a man alleged to be Favre contacted Sterger on MySpace and began leaving her voicemails. The website posted a video of the voicemails and several graphic pictures allegedly sent to Sterger's cell phone.
"Send me a text. Love to see you tonight," one voicemail said.
The 26-year-old Sterger, now a TV personality for Versus, has a website that describes her as an actress, model, writer and television host. Her duties during Jets games included introducing the Jets' dance team, asking trivia questions and making announcements to the crowd.
Sterger's manager Phil Reese said she is "not doing any interviews or commenting at this time," but that "Jenn did not provide Deadspin with any information."
In an e-mail to The Associated Press, A.J. Daulerio, Deadspin's editor in chief, declined to reveal the source of the material. He did say the source of the photos contacted him and that Deadspin paid "more than we ever have" for them.
"I was certain about the accuracy of her story, the evidence was presented substantiating that," he said, "and then as things began to unfold, it appeared more and more likely that this happened. Plus, there will be more."
The Jets referred all questions to their public relations firm, Sunshine, Sachs and Associates.
"We are working closely with the league in their review of this matter," said the firm's spokesman, Jesse Derris.
Deadspin also reported that Jets director of media relations Jared Winley may have been an intermediary between Favre and Sterger. But Derris said Winley "played no role in this alleged incident."
If the NFL finds that Favre violated its personal conduct policy, Favre could be fined or even suspended. The league's policy allows it to punish a wide range of behavior, even that which is not illegal.
Commissioner Roger Goodell used the policy to suspend Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger for four games after he was accused of, but not charged with, sexually assaulting a 20-year-old woman at a Georgia college bar.
Favre, who turns 41 Sunday, and his wife, Deanna, have been married 14 years. He became a grandfather in the spring.

Randy Moss to the Vikings

Randy Moss #84

Randy Moss, arguably the most influential Wide out ever to play in the National League has been traded from the New England Patriots for a 3rd Round and 7th Round Draft pick in the 2011 Draft. Moss, returning home after a small stint at the Raiders, and then an outstanding couple of seasons with the Patriots will take on the New York Jets in Monday Night Football, battling against his rival Darnelle Revis, in what should make for a great matchup. Favre and the Vikings offense have had a slow start to the season, and will be interesting to see, with the aquirement of Moss if they can get the ball rolling. Adrian Peterson should continue his outstanding season on the ground, with Moss freeing up room in the box, allowing for Peterson to take advantage of small numbers and bounce it out onto the outside, like he did so well against the Detroit Lions one game ago. With Vikings needing to get the ball rolling and Sanchez's quick claim to fame, this Monday Night Game should be a Great one
